Wellness is a modern word with ancient roots. The active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.

Wellness is an individual pursuit—People have self-responsibility for our own choices, behaviors and lifestyles—but it is also significantly influenced by the physical, social and cultural environments in which we live.

  • Physical: A healthy body through exercise, nutrition, sleep, and more

  • Mental: Engagement with the world through learning, problem-solving, creativity, etc.

  • Emotional: Being in touch with, aware of, and able to express your feelings

  • Spiritual: Our search for meaning and purpose in human existence.

  • Social: Interacting with others and contributing to other people and to our communities.

  • Environmental: A healthy physical environment free of hazard and the role we play in sustaining it.

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.”— Buddha
